The four sports words you must know
- サッカー sakkaa soccer
- テニス tenisu tennis
- やきゅう(野球) yakyuu baseball
- たっきゅう(卓球) takkyuu table tennis
We’re using many words from English as loan words. Especially, many sports-related words are from English. That’s why they are written in katakana.
きゅう(球)means ball. Sports with “きゅう(球)” in the name are those that use a ball.
Example sentences
サッカーがすきです。
sakkaa ga suki desu
I like soccer.
あねとテニスをしました。
ane to tenisu o shimashita
I played tennis with my sister.
テレビでやきゅうをみました。
terebi de yakyuu o mimashita
